About this Event
EB Smart Enterprise LLC is named in memory of Emory and Bernice Smart. EB Smart Enterprise LLC will promote Diabetes and Hypertension Awareness as our family has been affected by both diseases.
EB Smart Enterprise supports the American Diabetes Association with a 5K Run/Walk because we want to make a difference. We want to lead. We want to inspire. We want to empower. We want a cure!
We are teaming up to change the future and make a positive impact in the lives of those who are affected by diabetes. We are committed to participate together and raise money through this inspirational event, not just because over 30 million people in the United States have diabetes, but because so many of us personally know some of them and want to do something about it.
By making a donation or participating in the run, you will be helping the Association provide community-based education programs, protect the rights of people with diabetes, and fund critical research for a cure.
When we bring together dedicated causes and generous donors, the power we have as a group far outweighs what any of us could do alone.
We are determined to reach our goal of $15,000, one person at a time. So let's make a difference together!
About Diabetes
Diabetes refers to a group of diseases that affect how the body uses glucose. Glucose or blood sugar is a very important source of energy that is fuel to the brain. Too much glucose in the blood can lead to serious health problems. CDC recently released the 2022 National Diabetes Statistics report which estimates that more than 130 million adults are living with Diabetes.
Emory and Bernice Smart were both diagnosed with Diabetes along with several of their children and grandchildren. The descendants of Emory and Bernice realized that we as a family must do our part in educating the community on diabetes. Because our family is greatly affected we want to bring about awareness and education with hopes of challenging a healthier lifestyle within community.
On August 13, 2022, the family of Emory and Bernice Smart held their second annual 5-K Diabetes Awareness Run/Walk. This year we reached our goal of increasing our runners. During this race we had 67 registered runners and raised $1447. Of the money raised we donated $500 to the American Diabetes Association in honor of Emory and Bernice Smart.

Important Information
Runners already registered for the 5K and will receive their 5K runners package (bibs, pins, goody bags) the morning of the event at the registration table labeled REGISTERED.
For all 5K participants that registered on 21 September $25/$20), packet pick-up information will be available the morning of the event at the registration table labeled NEW REGISTRATION.
